Unlike slaves Indentured servants had a contract with their master for a specific time period of three to seven years, and then would receive their freedom, like Ariel did at the end of the play.
2. In the 17th century people were very scared of fairies and believed they were evil. In the Tempest people were afraid of Ariel when he turned invisble and was speaking/singing to them.
